The Challenge. We set out to create an ambitious sci-fi short that felt expansive and cinematic despite the constraints of an independent production. The visual language needed to balance grounded performances with a distinct, atmospheric world—bringing the story to life with authenticity rather than spectacle.
The Approach. We approached the film with an analog-first mindset, shooting on Super 16mm over three days in the windswept plains east of Denver. Careful shot design, natural landscapes, and the organic texture of film stock gave the project a tactile, timeless quality, while an efficient production schedule allowed the team to maximize every location and moment of available light.
The Result. Currently in post-production, the film tells the story of two unlikely companions navigating survival in a harsh post-apocalyptic world. The textured look of Super 16mm and the stark landscapes of eastern Colorado create a grounded, immersive atmosphere that reinforces the film's themes of resilience, trust, and human connection amid an unforgiving environment.
