Welcome to Z35 Films. My name is Zack, and I'm a Director of Photography, colorist, photographer, and songwriter based in Fort Collins, Colorado.

I’ve spent the past eight years creating hundreds of films across the world, from intimate weddings to independent narrative work. At the core of everything I do is a simple intention: to create compelling images that tell honest, human stories. Stories have always felt like one of life’s greatest treasures, and filmmaking became my way of exploring and sharing them.

As a cinematographer, my work blends immersive naturalism with purposeful, expressive composition. I’m drawn to lived-in environments, layered spaces, and lighting that mirrors how we truly see, allowing each project to become its own cinematic world shaped by story, character, and emotion. I’m far less interested in precision for its own sake, and far more in cinematography that embraces imperfection, captures raw emotion, and preserves the genuine behavior of the world.​

 

Doing this professionally is an incredible honor. The trust given to me by my clients, collaborators, community, family, and friends means everything. Outside of production, I love teaching, helping others grow in their craft, spending time outdoors, traveling, and creating music with my band.
